Learn about ‘Lester’, our new official state soil and careers in soil science, from two professional soil scientists. Bob and Gary are Licensed Professional Soil Scientists who have more than 60 years of experience between them. After graduating from college, they worked as soil scientists completing soil surveys in several Minnesota Counties. They are currently working on investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater impacted by agricultural chemicals.

While taking you through the exhibit, Bob and Gary will discuss soil science as a career, educational and licensing requirements in Minnesota and their involvement in the establishment of Lester as the Official Minnesota State Soil.
