At the 2015 Spring meeting, an idea was brought forth to make a change to the way the Society is

governed. The suggestion was to allow the President to serve a two-year term. The reasoning behind

this idea is that a two-year would provide better continuity in the operation of the Society. Having

an additional year would allow a President more time to fully implement initiatives or ideas.

This change required an amendment to the by-laws of the Society in Article IV—Administration Section

5.03 describing the five officers positions and the term for the president.

The issue was put to a vote of the membership under Article VII—Amendments and was the proposed

amendment was approved by a majority.

The transition to a two-year presidential term will happen following Matt Heyroth’s term as president

in 2016. The president-elect position will be removed in 2017 and replaced with a vice-president position

through the nomination/election process to keep the Board at 5 members.

The by-laws, Article IV Section 5.03 shall be amended to read “Officers of the Society shall be PastPresident,

President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The five officers shall comprise the

Board. The President shall serve a two-year term and then Past-President for a two-year term. The

Vice-President shall serve a one-year term. The term of office for the Secretary and Treasurer shall

be for two years.”
