Licensing and Legislation

Soil scientists can become licensed in the State of Minnesota.  Licenses are managed through The Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).  Initial licensure includes taking the Fundamental of Soil Science (FSS) and the Principles of Soil Science (PSS) exams, having relevant education and relevant experience.

The next FSS and PSS exams are slated for April 14, 2021.  You must apply to take the exam by February 16, 2021.  The cost to sit the FSS exam is $220.  If you are a MAPSS member and are taking the FSS exam, you may potentially get reimbursed for $195 of the application cost thanks to the generous members of MAPSS and Spectrum Research.  Click on the link to the reimbursement form, below.
